Scott Peters is the 2011 chairman of the Board of Port Commissioners of the San Diego Unified Port District.
Scott served for eight years on the San Diego City Council, elected first in November 2000. He was San Diego’s first-ever Council President, from 2006 through 2008. Before his public service, Scott had a varied 16-year environmental law practice.
Scott has served on the California Coastal Commission, the California Commission on Tax Policy in the New Economy, the League of California Cities, and the San Diego Association of Governments.
He also volunteers as Chair of the Climate Initiative at the San Diego Foundation, as a member of the Board of Overseers at UCSD, the La Jolla Community Foundation and the Walkable and Livable Communities Institute of Port Townsend, Washington.
He and his wife Lynn live in La Jolla and have a daughter and son.
