Kim Nguyen is a native San Diegan with a degree in Political Science from San Diego State University. Prior to joining LEAD, Kim worked as a Council Representative for Councilmember Toni Atkins and as a Council Representative and Policy Advisor for Councilmember Marti Emerald. During her time with the San Diego City Council, Kim represented the Councilmembers in City Heights, Hillcrest, Rolando Park, Redwood Village, Rolando and many others. As a Policy Advisor, Kim worked on legislation regarding the environment, redevelopment, medical marijuana/Proposition 215 and energy.
In her spare time, Kim enjoys spending time with family, friends, volunteering with STAR/PAL, a local nonprofit which partners law enforcement with at-risk youth as mentors to keep them off the streets of our inner cities and help them maintain positive lifestyles, and volunteering with the San Diego Police Department’s Mid City Division’s monthly curfew sweeps.
