Sheriff Bill Gore oversees one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the nation. His field deputies patrol a jurisdiction with over 4,000 square miles, while detectives investigate homicide, sex crimes, gang violence, elder abuse, and fraud. He oversees a jail operation with nearly 5000 inmates at seven different detentions facilities.

Responsible for a staff of 4,000 and an annual budget of over $500 million, Sheriff Gore spearheaded creation of the Regional Terrorism Threat Assessment Center (RTTAC), developed the highly effective Border Crimes Initiative and expanded the Sheriff’s air operations to include two fire-fighting helicopters.
