LEAD is located at 110 W. A Street, Suite 960, in San Diego, California.

02. What is the purpose of the LEAD San Diego?

LEAD’s purpose is to provide balanced, issue-oriented programming that informs and inspires leadership and civic engagement on regional issues. We work to advance the quality of life of the San Diego region through a growing network of capable, and engaged civic leaders.

06. Who is eligible to apply for IMPACT?

Anyone may apply who is interested in building their leadership skills. The program is designed for civic-minded individuals who have moderate to significant community service experience. Click here to view an application.

07. What is the tuition for IMPACT San Diego?

IMPACT tuition is $3,950.

08. How long is the IMPACT program?

IMPACT is a 10-month program.

09. What criteria will be used to select candidates for the IMPACT program?

 Participants will be selected from individuals who submit completed applications and participate in a personal interview. LEAD San Diego’s Selection Committee will seek to identify those most likely to demonstrate leadership abilities for the long-term benefit to our region. The committee annually selects a group of approximately 60 participants with emphasis on broad representation from occupational, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, as well as geographic areas and community interests. 

To be accepted into IMPACT SAN DIEGO, applicants MUST:

 

  • Have demonstrated positions of leadership in their employment and/or volunteer organization.

  • Display evidence of mature judgment and exceptional leadership qualities.

  • Have demonstrated a strong interest in and commitment to the community through significant voluntary leadership roles in community organizations.

  • Be qualified to utilize their leadership skills through community service for the long-term benefit of the community.

  • Have obvious potential for growing personally and affecting change.

  • Be willing to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program.

Other considerations:

  • We strive to include participants from the entire San Diego/Northern Baja California region.

  • We seek a class that reflects the diversity of the San Diego/Northern Baja California region.

  • We seek representatives from business, government, non-profit and volunteer sectors.

  • Tenure in San Diego will be considered. However, potential to impact San Diego now and in the future is more important. Community service in other communities is considered in the selection process.

 

10. How many participants are accepted in the IMPACT program?CT program?

IMPACT classes are kept to a maximum of 60 participants.

Tuition for EMBARK is $1,095.

The EMBARK program spans five-full days spread out over three months.

15. What criteria will be used to select candidates for this program?

Candidates must be new to community service and have a willingness to grow personally and professionally.

INFLUENCE is designed specifically for C-level and senior executives who are new to the San Diego region or to their leadership position.

19. What is the tuition For INFLUENCE?

20. How long is the program?

This accelerated program spans three full days in the spring.

21. What criteria will be used to select candidates for this program?

Candidates must be:

  • new to the region and/or position within your company (5 years or less)

  • C-level or senior executive

  • recommended by referral

22. How many participants are accepted in the program?

INFLUENCE classes are kept to a maximum of 30 participants.

23. Are tuition scholarships available for LEAD programs?

Yes, a limited amount of scholarships are available to LEAD participants. Contact LEAD San Diego for more information.

24. What obligation does a graduate have after program completion?

Once participants complete their respective programs, they are expected to serve the community by demonstrating their enhanced leadership skills and make positive contributions in the community. We also expect them to invest in LEAD by becoming an active member of our Alumni Association.

25. What is The Visionary Awards?

The Visionary Awards is LEAD SAN DIEGO’s annual opportunity to celebrate the work of inspirational San Diego leaders who have dedicated time, talent and treasure to many civic and community initiatives in an effort to foster positive change in the San Diego and Northern Baja region.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for LEAD San Diego, a nonprofit organization established in 1981, whose mission is to provide balanced, issue-oriented programming that informs and inspires leadership and civic engagement on regional issues. This effort advances the quality of life of the San Diego region through an ever growing network of capable and engaged civic leaders.
